The world’s first 10-year longitudinal research study on survivors of sex trafficking is published in a new, special issue of Dignity: A Journal of Analysis of Exploitation and Violence featuring articles from the Butterfly Longitudinal Research Project. Written by Cambodian and international researchers and academics, the study features seven open-access articles that focus on survivor rehabilitation and reintegration and span a range of topics including: methodology & ethics (Miles et al., 2021), boys and men (Davis et al., 2021), stigma (Morrison et al., 2021), filial piety and financial anxiety (Smith-Brake et al., 2021), social determinants of health(Havey et al., 2021), experiences of the justice system (Morrissey et al., 2021), and pathways to re-exploitation (DoCarmo et al., 2021). These new additions to anti-modern slavery social work literature offer recommendations  with implications for the care of trafficking survivors around the world. Read the study here.

The Butterfly Longitudinal Research comes out of the Chab Dai Coalition, an international community of anti-human trafficking NGOs founded in Cambodia. One of the rationales for establishment of the coalition was to formulate a collective voice to advocate survivor needs to the Royal Government of Cambodia.
