Elena Finkbeiner

Coastal Community Fisheries Program Manager, Conservation International

Elena is an interdisciplinary scientist and practitioner who has a a decade of experience studying and working in coastal small-scale fisheries. Her research examines coastal fisheries as social-ecological systems, and explores topics such as resilience and collective action. As a practitioner, Elena is interested in how interdisciplinary science and local knowledge can be integrated to produce policies and practices achieving both environmental sustainability and human wellbeing. In addition to her Adjunct Faculty appointment within the Coastal Sciences and Policy Program, Elena is the Coastal Community Fisheries Program Manager at Conservation International’s Center for Oceans
