Flávia de Almeida Moura holds a PhD in Communication from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUC-RS), a post-doctorate in Sociology and Anthropology from the Rio de Janeiro Federal University (UFRJ), and is a professor and researcher at the of Maranhão Federal University – Brazil. She is the author of the books Escravos da precisão – economia familiar e estratégias de sobrevivência de trabalhadores rurais em Codó (Slaves of Necessity – Family Economy and Survival Strategies for Rural Workers in Codó (MA) (EDUFMA, 2009) and Trabalho Escravo e Mídia – olhares de trabalhadores rurais maranhenses (Slave Labor and the Media – Views of Maranhão Rural Workers) (EDUFMA, 2016).
